EPAs across Australia: Navigating Variation in Implementation as part of PreVoc

- This workshop is aimed at Directors of Clinical Training, MEOs, supervisors and PMC staff. It will involve activities and discussions in small groups using a train the trainer model for adaption back in hospitals and community environments

Workshop Overview: 

EPAs are being trialled across the country in various jurisdictions and this workshop is an opportunity to explore implementation and lessons learnt so far. EPAs prioritise clinical experience as a critical part of prevocational training. Assessment of EPAs will increase structured opportunities for observation, feedback and learning and inform global judgements at the end of terms/years.

 This workshop will provide some insight into the different ways the roll out of EPA assessments, including EPA assessor training can be facilitated in health services around the country.

 The workshop will explore the following key elements in relation to EPAs in the prevocational space:

•              the language and concepts around entrustability for prevocational doctors

•              how EPAs feedback conversations may unfold between supervisors

•              how EPAs feed into the overall longitudinal assessment process across a two-year training experience

•              the benefits and challenges of implementing EPAs in the busy world of hospital and community medicine
