We can't wait to see you in Mparntwe (Alice Springs) 5 and 6 June for the 2024 Sharing and Strengthening our Practice conference!
The Northern Territory Government is committed to addressing domestic, family and sexual violence. The Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence Reduction Framework 2018-2028 Safe, Respected and Free from Violence provides a shared vision and commitmentwhere all Territorians are safe, respected and free from violence.
To support this work, a commitment to build a capable and responsive DFSV services sector has been made (under the Framework’s Action Plan 1 Action 5.5a and 11).
One of the key initiatives to achieve this goal is the establishment of the biennial Sharing and Strengthening Our Practice DFSV Services Sector Conference series, which aims to bring together specialist DFSV prevention and response sector workers, supervisors, managers, and executives from across the Northern Territory to share their experiences and knowledge, and learn from guest speakers, about the latest issues, trends and responses in the DFSV services sector.
In May of 2019, more than 170 delegates from government and non-government organisations (NGOs) gathered from across the Territory to attend the inaugural conference in Darwin. Delegate feedback from 2019 told us the conference material and content was relevant and useful to their work, and 96% of respondents rated the conference as excellent or good.
Now, 5 years after our 2019 inaugural conference in Darwin, we can’t wait to celebrate, reflect, and share information, listen to your ideas and concerns and hear from experienced sector representatives at the 2024 event in Mparntwe (Alice Springs).
The objectives of the 2024 Sharing and Strengthening Our Practice Conference are to:
• Facilitate a culturally safe and collaborative environment to encourage discussion and strengthen connections between DFSV prevention and response workers and managers and between the sector and government;• Provide a forum to celebrate, reflect and share information, ideas and concerns; and• Build DFSV prevention and response workforce capability and resilience through learning from experienced sector representatives including keynote speakers and presenters.
