Charles Darwin University’s Research Institute for Northern Agriculture (RINA) is addressing the opportunities and challenges of sustaining and developing primary industry in northern Australia and the neighbouring region, with a focus on agriculture, aquaculture, and biosecurity research.

RINA’s Tropical Aquaculture Group studies biology, animal behaviour, and animal welfare as applied to tropical aquaculture systems, and provides support to both industry and Indigenous communities in developing and growing aquaculture sustainably. We have diverse expertise across these areas, with a history of research focused upon examination of individual differences within cultured populations and their implications for animal welfare, feed management, production, and sustainability, as well as development deployment of specialist technologies for behavioural and production monitoring within aquaculture systems. Our current research projects encompass new species development, environmental enrichment, and tech development for climate resilience

Proaqua is an Australian owned company supplying inputs for the aquaculture industry for over 15 years.  Specialising in prawn and finfish farming, we are a service-based company proud of our partnership with Australian aquaculture farms.  We also support research institutions with specialised hatchery inputs and feeds.

Their innovation pipeline spans multiple nutrition sectors, including human, infant and animal nutrition, with emerging work in eco friendly feed ingredients such as Australian seaweed. They source directly from growers in Australia, the UK and Ukraine, and support customers globally through strategic partnerships and marketing teams across Asia. A key development for aquaculture is our high protein canola–based ingredient currently in advanced R&D, designed to improve feed efficiency, sustainability and fish performance. This breakthrough reflects their commitment to science driven, responsibly sourced solutions for the future of global aquafeed.

The U.S. Soybean Export Council (USSEC) focuses on differentiating, elevating preference, and attaining market access for the use of U.S. Soy for human consumption, aquaculture, and livestock feed in more than 90 countries. USSEC members represent the soy supply chain including U.S. Soy farmers, processors, commodity shippers, merchandisers, allied agribusinesses, and agricultural organisations.

USSEC is funded by the Soy Checkoff, USDA Foreign Agricultural Service matching funds, and industry.
