Visa Information for International Delegates

The International Symposium of Fish Nutrition and Feeding (ISFNF) has been registered with the International Event Coordinator Network (IECN) of the Department of Home Affairs, Australia. This assists delegates and speakers with visa requirements for entry to Australia.

Q. What visa options are available for participants, attendees, and speakers who are not being paid to contribute?

A. You may be eligible for one of the following:

  • Visitor (subclass 600) Business stream visa 

  • Electronic Travel Authority – ETA (subclass 601) (for eligible passport holders)

  • eVisitor (subclass 651) Business stream visa (for eligible passport holders)

Note: Eligibility for an eVisitor or ETA depends on your passport country.

Q. What supporting documents should I provide for a Visitor (subclass 600) visa?

A. Visitor (subclass 600) Business visa applicants should include as much information as possible to support their visa applications. 

In addition, visa applicants should include the following information:

  • Evidence of international travel outside your country (e.g. visas, entry/exit stamps)

  • Information and evidence of attendance at similar events

Special note: ETA applicants from Malaysia may face additional requirements. See the Australian High Commission in Malaysia for guidance.

Q. What visa options are available for speakers, presenters, exhibitors, or contributors who are being paid?

A. Speakers, presenters, exhibitors, or other contributors who will be working, or otherwise be paid to contribute at the event, may be eligible to apply for one of the following visa options:

  • Temporary Activity (subclass 408) – Invited Participant visa requires a letter of support from an Australian organisation (legislative requirement).

  • Temporary Work (subclass 400) – Short Stay Specialist visa for contributors where there is no inviting Australian organisation.

Q. Do I need to provide biometrics?

A. Yes, if you are outside Australia and applying from (or are a citizen of) a country that is part of the Australian biometrics program.

Q. Are there health and character requirements?

A. Yes, Most visa applicants must meet minimum health standards before they can be granted ​a visa, and the department may assess your health as part of the visa application process. These include:

  • Meeting minimum health standards (“health requirement”)

  • Meet the character requirements (“good character”)

Q. How long does visa processing take?

A. Visa applications are assessed on a case-by-case basis, and actual processing times can vary due to individual circumstances, including:

  • Lodging a complete application with all supporting documents

  • Response time to requests for further information regarding your application

  • Time taken for health, character, and national security checks

  • Time taken to receive information from external agencies

  • Global demand at the time of application

Check current processing times 

Recommendation: Submit your application at least 6–8 weeks before your intended travel date.

Q. Cancellation Policy

A. Notice of cancellation and requests for a refund, by individuals or groups, must be received in writing by email to Agentur. 

The date of the email receipt will be the basis for considering refunds.

The following cancellation charges apply

Cancellations received 60 days or more before the event will receive a full refund, less an administration fee of $120.00.
Cancellation received less than 60 days before the event will receive a 75% refund.
No refunds will be given for cancellation received 29 days before the event (application for refund will be considered under exceptional circumstances).

No refund will be granted for failure to attend/no show.

As an alternative to cancellation, your registration, and additional items, such as workshops, tours, social events, partner programs etc, may be transferred to another delegate without penalty.

In the unlikely event of the program being cancelled by the Organiser, a full refund will be made. 
Liability will be limited to the amount of the fee paid by the delegate and there will not be any additional liability to the Organiser, event hosts or any other individual associated with the event organisation. 
We shall not be liable to you for travel, accommodation or other costs and expenses incurred if we are required to cancel or relocate the event.
