Wayne Anderson

Chairperson of the NSW Aboriginal Fishing Advisory Council

Wayne Anderson is a Worimi/Biripi descendant who respects Lore and Aboriginal culture. He strongly identifies as a saltwater man and has grown up in a fishing family. As a keen fisher with experience in beach, rock, and river fishing, he possesses extensive knowledge and skills in prawning, crabbing, line fishing, oystering, native fish trap usage, beach worming, pipi collection, bait catching, and identifies as a cultural fisher. He grew up and lives in Port Macquarie, NSW. 

Wayne has been a Steering Group Member for the Birpai Barray (Hastings) Aboriginal Cultural Fishing Local Management Plan since 2017 and is a member of the Birpai Local Aboriginal Lands Council (LALC). He serves as the lead person responsible for purchasing resources and delivering programs for the Birpai LALC Aboriginal Fishing Trust Fund. 

Currently, Wayne is the Chairperson of the NSW Aboriginal Fishing Advisory Council, which includes members from ten NSW regions, the NSW Aboriginal Land Council, and NTSCORP. He has been a member of Region 7 (Mid North Coast) since 2022.
